Who JOY128 Is For

You have a job. Maybe it's even a creative job. But somewhere between the deliverables and the deadlines and the Slack messages, there's a version of your work you never quite get to — the stuff that actually excites you, the projects that feel like the reason you got into this in the first place.

You want more of that. You're just not sure where to go to find it.

You've tried the networking events. They felt like a pitch festival. You've tried going to showcases and openings. Beautiful work, mostly strangers, home by nine. You've thought about taking a class but can't commit to a curriculum that doesn't fit your schedule or your specific set of interests. You've thought about starting a creative group with friends, but everyone is busy and it never quite comes together.

What you're actually looking for isn't an event or a class. It's a room. A place to bring your work — whatever stage it's in, however unfinished — and be around other people who are doing the same. A place with enough consistency that you actually get to know the people in it. A place where the expectation is that you'll be back next week.

You're probably a working creative.

Maybe that means you freelance. Maybe you have a day job in a creative field and a side practice that matters just as much. Maybe you're in the early stages of building something and you're figuring it out as you go. Maybe you've been doing this for fifteen years and you're just tired of doing it alone.

Whatever the case, you're someone who takes the work seriously — not in a precious way, but in the way that means you keep coming back to it even when it's inconvenient. You don't need someone to motivate you. You just need a better room.

What you'll find here.

JOY128 is built for people who want to practice, not just perform. Who want to get better, not just get seen. Who are more interested in the process than the showcase — and who suspect that the best creative community they've ever been part of is possible, if someone would just build the infrastructure for it.

We're not going to pretend every session will change your life. Some of them will just be a few good hours of work in a room with interesting people. But over time — after a few weeks, a few months — something starts to develop that's hard to manufacture any other way. You know these people. They know your work. The room starts to feel like yours.

That's what we're building. And it's for you.
